Why I'm Running:

I am running for WTU President to fulfill the vision of a WTU that is centered on rank and file decision making, building our collective power, and staying organized and ready to take action to defend and fight for our school communities against the attacks from Republicans and privatize interests.

Leadership Experience:

I have served in a wide variety of union and community leadership settings since 2009. I started as a SCAC and LSAT member at HD Woodson, eventually joining Personnel. I served as an unofficial Alt-Rep, assisting our Building Rep if they were out. I then became Building Rep on and off for several years.

In 2014 WTU President Elizabeth Davis tapped me to chair and rebuild the WTU Committee on Political Education (COPE). I led the committee for 10 years. During that time President Davis asked me to serve on her 2nd slate and run for WTU President as a Member At Large from High School (2016-2019). The next term I ran on her slate as WTU Secretary, a role I serve on through (2019-Today). I have also attended two AFT Conferences as a Delegate, writing 2 motions that were presented in committee and getting one of those passed through to the National level.

I also have served on multiple Ward education council Boards (both for Ward 5 and 7), I am the Current Secretary Empower DC Executive Board - Member of SHAPPE, Ward 5 and 7 Education Councils and a representative on the Coalition for DC Public Schools

Position Description I am running for

• Represents the organization in Labor, community and public places
• Runs the office
• Serves as a fiduciary
• Chairs official meetings
