Why I'm Running:

I will bring my passion for education, my leadership experience, and my deep commitment to collaboration to ensure the union continues to be a voice for teachers and a catalyst for positive change in our schools. As a trustee, I will work diligently to uphold the highest standards of financial integrity and organizational governance to ensure the WTU remains a trusted and effective advocate for its members.

Leadership Experience:

I’ve served as a member of SCAC (2 years). Served as member of LSAT 7 years (5 years as chairperson). As Chairperson, my responsibilities include:
1. Facilitating Meetings: Organizing and presiding over LSAT meetings to ensure productive discussions that address key school issues, including budgeting, curriculum, and policy implementation.
2. Advocating for Stakeholders: Representing the concerns, ideas, and priorities of our diverse school community to the school administration and decision-makers.
3. Strategic Planning: Collaborating with LSAT members to develop and refine our School Improvement Plan, ensuring it aligns with the needs and aspirations of our students and families.
4. Fostering Engagement: Encouraging open communication and active participation from all members of our school community, creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued.
5. Providing Guidance: Offering advice and support to the school leadership team, particularly on decisions related to resource allocation, instructional strategies, and family engagement initiatives.

Position Description I am running for

• Work with treasurer to prepare a budget for the fiscal year.
• Recommend any necessary changes to the budget to the Executive Board.
• Examine financial records, receipts, expenditures, disbursements, vouchers, bills and statements.
• Attest to accuracy of all bank accounts each year
• Produce and present a quarterly report to the Executive Board and membership regarding the finances
